Stitched Imagery Workshop

Just finished these two stitched watercolor paintings, inspired by a workshop by Kelli Perkins!  She is awesome!  I plan to print these on fabric and create something unique with them....I have participated in the "STITCHED" online workshops and they are amazing.

Gifts for my TO BE twin Grandgirls

Karina and Evelyn!  They are scheduled to arrive on July 11, 2011.  However, I have a feeling they will be coming a bit earlier.  We will see.  The family is so excited!  We haven't had any twins in our family that anyone can remember...these are natural twins.

My daughter, Carolann and I chose "Giddy" line of fabric and it is just sweet!  For Karina, I leaned more towards the turquoise and Evelyn the cherry pink.  Evelyn's was first and boy oh boy all those Y seams drove me about batty!   So i went with the Hearts for Karina.....I designed them both using Malka Dubrawsky's pattern for Evelyns and Black Mountain Quilts pattern for Karina for inspirations. The names were a challenge....I appliqued the by machine...phew...lots of curves!  Using the left over fabric, I made the retro stuff animals, bibs, and pillows. Needless to say, Carolann was thrilled.  I am really pleased on the results :)  I am sure I will be making many more fun things for the girls!

Civil War Block TWO

And...here is Block Two...sooooo many half square triangle!  and had to make Four of these blocks...phew....
And this is Modern Block Two!

Civil War Chronicals Block of the Month

So I decided to do the Civil War Chronicals block of the month in 2011.  Its a beautiful King size quilt made with gorgeous reproduction fabric.  I love my Modern fabric, but there is just something about the repo fabric that tweeks my interest...of times gone by and the early american quilters who did everything by hand.  I am just sayin!  So i have embarked and here is block one completed along with a Modern Block one...i plan to post every block.

My King Bed Quilt

Wahoooo!  Layered and Pinned!  Ready to quilt....seems as though it took forever.  King quilts are difficult to manuver and require physical stretching, crawling around on your hand and knees.  But oh my when they get to this stage it is soooo worth it.  I can envision it on my bed already :)  Now I plan to call a friend who has a long arm and do it myself!  I was going to pay for it to be quilted...but I can't bring myself to do it.  I want to do it ALL!  I am happy with my fabric choices and have some fabric left over for shams, decorative pillows, and pillow cases.
